No strangers to creating custom timepieces that elevate its design to new heights, master watchmakers Artisans de Genève have created a custom masterpiece for Formula 1 world champion Mika Häkkinen. Using a Rolex Daytona as a base, the Mika Häkkinen Challenge blends exquisite craftsmanship with the highly technical world of Formula 1. It features a skeletonized titanium dial with blue and orange highlights, and a special bezel with a patented titanium finish. Every aspect of the watch has been carefully thought out to conjure the spirit of racecar driving. Unlike its steel counterpart, this extremely special white gold version was sold exclusively to special clients, unavailable to the general public.
Founded in 2005, Artisans de Genève are considered by many to be the pinnacle of bespoke watch making. Based in Geneva, Artisans de Genève have done high-end modifications on several luxury brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe, and have introduced a variety of special unique pieces based on iconic vintage watches including the Tribute Challenge based on a Rolex Daytona Ref. 6240, and various iterations of the Rolex Daytona Ref. 116520. The workshop has since produced a series of special watch collaborations with important personalities from the world of sports, music and film including the likes of Juan Pablo Montoya, Lenny Kravitz and Spike Lee among others.
