Known for its iconic large sized timepieces, IWC sought to revitalize the classic Portugieser collection to fit the needs of contemporary times. In 2020, the brand made headwaves by introducing a mid-sized perpetual calendar, the Ref. IW344202. Here, the perpetual calendar is now sported in a 42mm solid rose gold case while retaining the old-world charm that the brand is known for. In addition, the watch is paired with a luxurious alligator strap made by Santoni, one of the finest shoemakers that brand especially commissioned for this new collection.

The International Watch Company (IWC) was founded in 1868 by American businessman Florentine Ariosto Jones with the idea of combining American engineering concepts with Swiss craftsmanship. Since then, the brand has consistently innovated, beginning with their first pilot’s created in 1936 featuring an anti-magnetic balance and a rotating bezel to the first wristwatch to use a pocket watch movement, the Portuguese, in 1939. Their most complicated model, the Da Vinci Tourbillion Perpetual Calendar Chronograph, was designed by master horologist Kurt Klaus in 1985. Since 2000, the brand has been incorporated as a subsidiary of the Swiss conglomerate, the Richemont Group of Johann Rupert.
