Rolex
Few brands have achieved the kind of prestige, brand recall, and worldwide recognition quite like Rolex. Originally established by German businessman Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis in London, England in 1905, Rolex has grown to be one of the biggest brands in the watchmaking world. In 1926, Rolex introduced their seminal model, the Oyster, the world’s first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch. In 1931, Rolex invented and patented the world’s first self-winding movement with a Perpatual rotor, which would serve as the basis for every modern automatic watch. Since then, the brand would go on to create some of the most iconic watches in the industry, including the Datejust, the Submariner, which was the first watch waterproof to 100 meters, the GMT-Master, which was the first watch to show two time zones at once, and the Cosmograph Daytona, which still ranks as one of the most sought-after and desirable models in the world.
