Movado
Founded in 1881 by Léopold Achille Isidore Ditesheim, the brand was renamed to “Movado” in 1905, meaning “always in motion” in the Esperanto language. Movado produced fine timepieces throughout the 20th century, but caught significant attention with its Museum Watch designed by American industrial designer Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Its enigmatic watch design was selected to become a part of the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 1960. Presently, the brand has since been an American-based conglomerate known as the Movado Group handling other watch brands under its wings including Ebel, Concord and MVMT; together with fashion brands Coach, Hugo Boss, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger among others.
