In 1972 Audemars Piguet bestowed upon the world a watch so iconic that 50 years later it still remains one of the most coveted timepieces in the world. This iteration of the Royal Oak seeks to pay homage to the past whilst moving it into the future. Its 37mm steel bezel and Bleu Nuit, Nuage 50 Tapisserie dial are nods to its heratige, whilst the new Royal Oak ergonomic design and the new Calibre 5900 movement give it the edge needed for this day and age.

Established in 1875 by partners Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, Audemars Piguet is one of the last remaining watchmaking maisons operating under the original founders. The brand has created several technical innovations throughout their existence including the first minute-repeater wristwatch in 1892 and the first skeletonized pocketwatch in 1934. In 1972, Audemars Piguet introduced the Royal Oak designed by Gérald Genta, which was the most expensive stainless-steel luxury sports watch at the time. Since then, the brand has released other iconic models such as the record-breaking Royal Oak Self-Winding Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin, the world’s thinnest automatic perpetual calendar wristwatch.
