This latter example of the surrealist-inspired Crash is actuated with pavé diamonds that is fitted in a white gold case. Contemporary findings have concluded that Jean-Jacques Cartier, the last of the Cartier siblings to manage the firm’s London office, came up with the idea for the revolutionary case design that was first produced by the French jeweler in 1967.

Established in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier after inheriting his mentor’s workshop, Cartier has grown to become one of the most prestigious jewelry manufactures in the world. Cartier’s notable ventures into watchmaking include one of the world’s first modern wristwatches, the Santos de Cartier, the iconic Cartier Tank, and one of the first water-resistant watches ever created, the Cartier Pasha.
