Urwerk
Established in 1997 by watchmaker Felix Baumgartner and watch designer Martin Frei, Urwerk has become a pioneer in the field of independent haute horologerie. Their notable timepieces include the UR-101, with its distinct rotating three-dimensional satellites inspired from a 17th century night clock made for Pope Innocent XI. In 2003, the brand introduced its most recognizable model, the UR-03, a tonneau-shaped watch with its crown placed on the 12 o’clock position. The brand remains independently owned by its original founders, and remains to be a leader in independent watchmaking, presently operating two ateliers under its wings in the cities of Geneva and Zürich respectively.
